Özlem Dikel, while working in the fields of photography such as portrait, fashion, advertising for over ten years, she dedicated herself to travel photography for her aspiration to nature and culture for about six years.
The artist that reflected countless cities and geographies with way long distances in between through her camera so far, has a quite remarkable and succesful history. Whilst working in network agencies (i.e. TBWA, Drive Dentsu) as a Senior Art Director for long years, her career was being interrupted with long journeys of photography. After a while, she made up her mind to dedicate herself to travel photography.
Her ability to getting easily acquainted with people, the mental effort for people and her job, ability to deducing fastly, took her many steps forward before long.
Being surrounded by photography was her biggest passion since her childhood. When all those came together with her passion of art, thus her work became renowned.
She uses the camera as a medium, as well as the digital design.
International awards and exhibitions she joined were frequently reflected in the press. In the last few years her works displayed See Me’s screenings which took place in NYC.
Her photographs and articles were published either in online media like ‘Fotoritm’ magazine or printed media like ‘Sırtçantam’ magazine.
On the other hand, she conducted common projects with some artists and sociologists from Spain and Greece. One of them was ‘6animal2’ project of an independent curator, Panos Sklavenitis. She was granted an award of graphics from Accademia Internazionale di Arte Moderna di Roma in Italy.
Lately she continues to her artistic practice through photography and digital design. In addition, she gives ‘Basic Photography Training’ and ‘Travel Photography’ workshops in her studio and conducts applied photography training excursions.
